Every time I start a blog, I force myself to write an introduction. Given the subject matter of this latest blog, I feel my self-identity is as relevant as the topic itself. Regarding politics and other subject matters I have always tried to minimize my personal issues, and look at the issue as rationally as possible. Art is not politics, and as a practicing artist, I make no promises to harness my biases.
The long and short of my life is this:
I have been in formally based visual art classes since about the 5th grade. In the 8th grade I enrolled in an arts conservatory high school for five years, spending three and a half of those five years involved in visual arts. The other year and a half was spent working as a creative writer. Now that I'm enrolled in college (about 1 unit from senior status) I find myself pursuing visual arts yet again.
I have been exposed to art in general throughout the course of my life. Some of you will think my 21 years of life makes me sage, but more of you will think it makes me young. All I can say for myself is this:
As an artist, I make no apology for art, be it words or paint. Art is valuable. It needs to be talked about, and I have things to say.
